"The Songbird of Wassoulou" has toured with Baaba Maal, Femi Kuti and Boukman Eksperyans and released critically acclaimed album like Ko Sira (1993), Worotan (1996) and double CD compilation Oumou (2004) all released on World Circuit Records.
Salsa Celtica (UK)
Just what it says on the tin, a great Scottish salsa band that manages to combine the Cuban charanga sound of flute and fiddles with a Highland blend of flute fiddles and bagpipe. Live, they are a storm.

Tales & Songs for Weddings and Funerals
Goran Bregovic and his Wedding & Funeral Band close the Rite of Spring festival tonight with "Tales and Songs for Weddings and Funerals" at Laugardalshöll. The show produced in cooperation with the Reykjavik Arts Festival and starts at 21:00, the house opens an hour earlier. The last tickets will be sold at the door from 12:00 o'clock today.

Salsa Celtica returns
Salsa Celtica, the great Scottish salsa band that combines the Cuban charanga sound with a Highland blend of flute fiddles and bagpipe, return to Reykjavik to perform at the Rite of Spring festival tonight. Also on stage is Stórsveit Samúels Jóns Samúelssonar, who is celebrating the release of his debut solo album; Fnykur.

The Rite of Spring festival opening show takes place at NASA (Austurvöllur) tonight with shows from Oumou Sangare (Mali) and Tómas R. Einarsson (ICE). Tickets for the show are still available through our ticket outlets and, if still available, will be sold tonight at the door. The house opens at 20:00 and the concert starts at 21:00.
